There is a known PCE/TCE toxic plume under the old Del Rey Cleaners located at 310 Culver Boulevard in Playa del Rey.

The Water Board has been concerned about this for many years and has not been able to find a “Responsible Party” to pay to have the plume analyzed and delineated.

In 2015 the Water Board applied for a grant in the amount of $1,500,000 to perform the needed analysation and recently received $600,000. They are very concerned with potential vapor intrusion.  Their work will begin soon.

In Legado's own 2012 Mitigated Negative Declaration (environmental study) for 138 Culver Blvd they acknowledged that the pumping activities required for dewatering to build their proposed subterranean parking that “pumping activities could increase the groundwater gradient toward the site, which could pull the documented groundwater impacts at Del Rey cleaners towards the site."
